Conférence Simmel

Daniel Fulda

Daniel Fulda is Chair of Modern German Literature at the University of Halle-Wittenberg and fellow of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities at Leipzig. 2007–2020 he served as director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies in Halle. He has held visiting professorships in Paris (EPHE), Lyons (ENS) and the University of Notre-Dame (U.S.A.). In 2019 he was elected second vice-president of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Fundamental issues in his research are the relationships between historiography and aesthetics, between texts and other media, and between the study of historical topics and contemporary interests, whether politically engaged or not. Currently, his research focuses on the programme of the Enlightenment, as expressed not only in terms but also in images.
